TAME IMPALA LIQUID SKY POSTER

Through this piece I learnt how to make some beginner animations in AfterEffects. I experimented with layout, spacing, and allowing text to take up more space in the poster, then learning how to balance it out visually.

This poster is used for marketing materials to promote the Tame Impala Liquid Sky Show at Fiske Planetarium in Boulder, CO and was composed during my time as Social Media Specialist. Liquid sky shows at the planetarium give audiences the chance to experience music from their favorite artists while accompanied by large moving graphics and animations projected on to the 8k digital planetarium dome. The target audience and demographic of this piece is primarily college students.

Artboard 1.png

Much of this poster was inspired by the currents album artwork for Tame Impala. The moving purple texture of the poster was inspired by the purple from the album cover. I began with a graphic of straight lines in Illustrator, liquified it in Photoshop, and then animated it user AfterEffects.

The video on the left is an example of liquid sky at Fiske Planetarium which partly inspired the liquid look of the poster texture. I wanted the purple visuals of my poster to represent the liquid sky on the dome while simultaneously referencing Tame Impala's currents album cover.

LAYER-BY-LAYER VISUALIZATION

This is an instagram post made in addition to the poster so the planetarium could promote the show in more places and receive more engagement.

This was a part of a project where I used the purple texture as well as a number of other plug-ins in a software named Max08. The plug-ins created a static that responded to audio input which in this case was the song Eventually by Tame Impala and made a crazy motion visual and I could change different properties such as the colors.
